How will you make an impact?

This position is an integral member of the Cell Culture & Cell Therapy (CCCT) business unit Finance team, within the high growth Biologicals and Chemicals (BCD) division. Responsible for driving financial reporting integrity, accuracy, and consistency for the business unit with respect to Division FP&A commitments. This position will lead a finance team with one analyst direct report and will span multiple aspects of the CCCT business unit, including, but not limited to, financial support for revenue & margin analytics, business partnership, pivotal initiatives, and ad hoc projects as the need arises.

What Will You Do?

  • Support consolidations for monthly and quarterly business reviews for Gibco liquid media, customer-owned media formulations (COF), and Gibco Services & Analytics by partnering with product portfolio owners to synthesize and explain variances to performance measurements (actuals vs. plan/forecast, growth and profitability)
  • Own the weekly revenue forecast process by analyzing revenue, backlog, and pipeline opportunities, while also incorporating business feedback and driving continuous improvement
  • Lead the preparation and development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Strategic Operating Plan (STRAP)
  • Build a close, collaborative relationship with business partners for forecasting & strategic decision support; collaborate with other finance teams and functions to ensure reporting and forecasting accuracy, standardization, alignment, and standard process sharing across a matrix organization
  • Independently conduct data analysis in large transactional datasets to identify business insights and observations and to ensure data integrity/accuracy; partner with cross functional teams when anomalies are observed
  • Partner with other team members to drive the development, expansion, and adoption of new and existing analytical tools using sophisticated data visualization techniques (Power BI) towards our efforts to evolve from static reporting to valuable business insights
  • Participate in Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives in high visibility areas
  • Build and develop a high performing team including training, coaching, and career development for Analyst direct report

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or other relevant field
  • 3+ years of related experience in financial planning & analysis or a related field
  • Prior experience in a large global company and highly matrixed organization preferred
  • Intellectual curiosity, versatility, adaptability
  • Desire to formulate and drive operational improvements, challenging the status quo
  • Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic organization
  • Technical ability to efficiently navigate interplay between financial systems & software (i.e. SAP, Hyperion, Hyperion Planning, Power BI, Cognos, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to summarize and present information in a concise and effective manner
  • Comfortable presenting information to multiple management layers, up to and including Group Executives; able to take an independent stance when working with business partners and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and consistently delivers high quality work
  • Good understanding of business processes and operations & financial controls, able to identify control weaknesses in existing process and recommend mitigation actions
