Account Coordinator


The Account Service team sits within the Advertising Operations, Delivery, and Reporting unit inside The Houston Chronicle Media Group (HCMG), a part of Hearst Newspapers. The team consists of account coordinators, managers, supervisors, and directors dedicated to serving as ambassadors of our customer-centric approach, evaluating end-to-end customer experiences across our products, and implementing a creative, problem-solving mindset turning learnings into actionable next steps.

You will learn about HCMG’s digital solutions for our clients (e.g., display—O&O, programmatic, social—, SEM, SEO, email, native, etc.), which we provide by a combination of in-house capabilities, collaboration with other Hearst agencies, and third-party vendors. The AC will support the team with day-to-day campaign management aimed at meeting and exceeding the clients’ business KPIs. You will also own our creative asset management, ensuring that campaign copy, imagery, and content are consumer ready.

In addition to delivering on the client experience, the AC is expected to develop and grow their knowledge of HCMG’s products and services, as well as stay on top of industry trends to offer best-of-class marketing and performance expertise.


The following is meant to establish your initial expectations for the role of AC on this team; however, specific job duties may change following communication and collaboration with your team lead:

  • Support the onboarding experience for new clients by validating campaign goals, coordinating the collection of assets and access to key digital analytics tools
  • Facilitate the coordination of artwork from sales and/or clients, including assisting with uploading art, proofing ads with clients, and approving ads in the advertising production system as necessary
  • Maintain and update client accounts in our suite of Client Success software
  • Assist with monitoring campaign pacing, performance, and day-to-day account management, including budget confirmation, project management, etc
  • Assist with internal and external meeting prep
  • Collaborate with sales, sales support, campaign management, and performance marketing teams to ensure we retain and grow advertiser relationships
  • Keep campaign insights top of mind in every business decision we make as a team on behalf of our customers business KPIs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Up to two years of experience in digital advertising sales, support, or operations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in advertising, marketing, communications, or a related field
  • Familiarity with—and a desire to learn more about—digital ad products and services (e.g., branded content, video, social, SEO/SEM, e-mail, display/programmatic, brand planning, media planning)
  • Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Bonus Qua li f i ca t i on s :

  • Previous experience in ad/digital agency environments
  • Industry-relevant certifications (i.e., Google Analytics), or willing to begin certification within 90-days of hire
  • Experience with project management or related dashboard software
  • An understanding of the traditional media landscape and how it can inform, supplement, or enhance digital products
