Global Asset Management Solutions (“AMS”) is comprised of three investment teams:

  • Multi-Asset Solutions (“MAS”) group manages multi-asset funds and customized strategies to help clients reach their investment objectives, drawing upon over 40 years of experience in managing multi-asset class portfolios. The group’s approach to multi-asset investing is based on a disciplined and rigorous approach integrating qualitative, quantitative and manager research components.
  • Quantitative Beta Solutions (“QBS”) creates and manages quantitative, rules based strategies across a wide spectrum of exposures including strategic beta, alternative beta, custom beta solutions and thematic portfolios.
  • Advisory and Core Beta Solutions (“ACBS”) manages U.S. advisory and digital portfolios, Investor Funds and equity market-cap strategies.

Role Description:

The Investment Director team is a global risk management unit within the first line of defense, reporting directly to the CEO of Global Asset Management Solutions (AMS). Our mandate combines investment risk management as well as oversight of the investment process. The team conducts quarterly investment reviews of all strategies globally and works closely with the investment teams to maintain a suitable risk oversight framework. In this context the team serves as an in-business risk management team for the investment desks and is distinct from the Independent Risk management team. The area of coverage includes all lines of business within AMS.

The VP/ED based in NY will be responsible for end to end risk management and investment oversight coverage of a number of investment teams within AMS, directly in US but also indirectly on a global basis. The successful candidate will develop thorough understanding of the investment processes associated with a variety of AMS portfolios and will liaise with multiple groups within JPMAM to help maintain a rigorous risk and performance oversight framework.

Core responsibilities :

  • Support risk management and investment oversight for select AMS investment desks.
  • Continuously monitor and interpret a wide range of risk and performance measures, provide ongoing analysis of risk profile of portfolios, and maintain close dialogue with investment teams as related to risk management of the strategies.
  • Facilitate the quarterly investment review process by formulating agenda of the Investment Director Review meetings. Developing meeting materials and conduct performance and risk analysis across an array of products and strategies.
  • Participate in projects developing analytical solutions, responses to regulatory initiatives, supporting risk management infrastructure and improvement of risk reporting.
  • Support representation of the Investment Directors team to senior management, regional fund Boards and the regulators.
  • Manage investment oversight coverage of portfolios by closely interacting with numerous stakeholder teams such as Portfolio Managers, Independent Risk Management, Business Management, Product Development, Compliance and other on all aspects related to the investment strategy under coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Broad market, investment or risk management experience with a range of equity and fixed income products in both cash and derivatives markets. A successful candidate will have 8 or more years of experience. Background in investment management, risk, quantitative analysis, manager research or product control is preferred.
  • Keen interest in investment and risk management. CFA or FRM qualification preferred.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including data analysis
  • Python programming skills to support risk analysis are strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical.
  • Understanding of multiple asset classes, portfolio management practices, and the asset management business is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal & organizational skills
  • Time management skills & ability to multi-task
  • Delivery focus and detail-orientation with strong commitment to accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task across a wide range of investment strategies, products and global teams.
