HarperOne, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, seeks an organized, creative, multi-tasking Assistant OR Associate Publicist to provide administrative and publicity support on campaigns.

  • Provides administrative and publicity support for two Directors of Publicity based in NYC and SF.
  • Assists with writing press releases, pitch letters, and other promotional materials relating to book.
  • Assists with coordinating book events for authors.
  • Orchestrates publicity mailings for book campaigns.
  • Organizes author schedules; arranges travel for authors on tour.
  • Researches and generates media contact lists, books events, and media.
  • Handles departmental duties such as mail sorting, coordinating weekly roundups, answering calls, and mailing book requests.
  • At Associate Publicist level, works on a few campaigns per season which includes engaging in regular author communication, developing media lists, pitching media and reporting across various communication vehicles while under close supervision.


  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Prior publishing or public relations internship experience required; A minimum of 1 year of prior relevant work experience in publishing, public relations, or related field required at Associate Publicist level
  • Experience with/knowledge of nonfiction genres including personal development, spirituality, religion, business, and healthy living
  • Bilingual/English Spanish preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be detailed-oriented, well-organized, and able to manage priorities under pressure
  • Ability to take initiative and direction
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
  • Strong detail management skills are necessary
  • Able to travel to local author events (as conditions permit)

This role can be based out of San Francisco, CA or New York, NY on a hybrid schedule.
