In April 2020, Our Company announced plans to consolidate our New Jersey campuses into a single New Jersey headquarters located in Rahway, NJ by 2023. Therefore, this role will be temporarily based and an exact timing of the departmental move to Rahway, NJ will be communicated at a future date.

Position Description:

Associate Director, Programs & Engagement, Global Impact Giving, SBI

Global Impact Giving (GIG) is an important function for our Company and a major driver of the company’s social impact in communities around the world. GIG leverages our Company’s products and people alongside philanthropic program investments to improve the health and wellbeing of underserved populations. It does so by managing much of the company’s sizable charitable giving portfolio ($2.9B in total cash and product giving), including grants from our Company’s Foundation, corporate contributions, employee giving, and product donations.

With a new strategic framework in place, GIG is seeking to hire a full-time Associate Director of Programs and Engagement. The Associate Director will work across three major areas of GIG’s grants portfolio: Global Health Initiatives, a newly established Community Health Grants Program, and Disaster Response. The Associate Director will support program execution, stakeholder relationship management, and communications, as well as enable cross-team collaboration across these three program areas.

This position is a matrix-managed role.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the design and management of a portfolio of global grant-funded initiatives that aim to reduce disparities and improve equitable health outcomes across several key areas, including cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and vaccines

  • Support the launch and execution of a newly established Community Health Grants Program designed to advance cross-cutting community health solutions

  • Support the design and execution of our Company’s response to emerging natural or humanitarian disasters, with a focus on our Company’s grant contributions and external partnerships

  • Partner with GIG Directors to engage with relevant internal stakeholders throughout our Company, including those focused on health equity, market access, public policy, and communications

  • Partner with GIG Directors to engage with external partners, including key global and U.S. health stakeholders, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and multilateral institutions

  • Lead elements of regular, day-to-day program management, including budget management, philanthropy measurement dashboard and reporting, and contribute to internal and external communications

  • Identify and advance opportunities for cross-team collaboration and synergy across the GIG portfolio

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Relevant advanced degree preferred.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 10+ years’ work experience, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in global and/or U.S. public health, health policy or a closely related field

  • Strong project management and implementation background

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • International and/or domestic experience working with NGOs, community organizations, government agencies, and/or multilateral institutions

  • Experience with continuous quality improvement to strengthen program design and impact

  • Experience working with underserved populations a plus

  • Experience working in the private sector, and in the pharmaceutical sector.

Location/Travel Requirements:

This role is location agnostic with up to 25% travel to our Kenilworth OR Rahway NJ sites maybe required.
