WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Vestwell is expanding and we’re anticipating breakout customer and revenue growth in 2022. We’re keen to add a tech-savvy Associate Product Manager to our Product team, supporting our A5Y Squad that’s passionate about changing the retirement and workplace savings industry. We’re looking for a customer-centric problem solver, who’s excited to build and level-up their Product Management skills. We’re a high-growth startup so you’ll be actively engaging with teams across the organization, while continuously driving business priorities forward.
The Associate Product Manager will contribute throughout the product life cycle in the delivery of product features and enhancements from the requirements phase through user acceptance and production support. You are someone who will dive into whatever creative challenge is placed in front of you, as you’ll have your hand in many of the following: writing product requirements, conducting business analysis, defining acceptance criteria and test cases, and working with UX to hone wireframes. To accomplish this, the ideal candidate must have a strong focus on execution and delivery and the ability to cross-functionally collaborate and build strong relationships with various internal engineering, business, operations, and QA teams.
You’ll join the Investments product squad. Our mandate covers both external (customer/Saver facing) and internal (operational oriented) products and experiences. As such, we aim to provide both a delightful saver experience in understanding how their investment choices help meet their retirement planning goals, and an efficient internal experience to carry out operational needs to support our advisory services. We are a small, but mighty team that’s tasked with key company-wide revenue and efficiency objectives.
Day to day, you will:

  • Help define the scope of projects using input from product leaders, business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and engineers
  • Break down complex business use cases into product and feature specifications
  • Partner with our Investments Advisory Services team to be the data steward for Investments data
  • Collaborate with UX to produce wireframes, and work with QA to create and execute test plans
  • Work closely with engineers to answer questions and clarify requirements as necessary
  • Coordinate releases, and help business stakeholders manage communication and training around new functionality as necessary

REQUIREMENTS
The Necessities

  • Prior professional and/or university curriculum experience as a business or data analyst or product manager
  • Ability to thoroughly understand business use cases, define solutions, and specify product/functional requirements for use by the engineering and QA team
  • Experience with data analysis tools (SQL, Heap etc.) and data-driven decision making to drive business/product outcomes
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment and conducting relevant ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, and sprint retro)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, constantly evolving environment, and meet deadlines under tight time constraints

Nice to Haves

  • Early stage startup, Fin-Tech, Tech, and/or Financial Services experience
  • Passionate about investments or financial planning or helping people save for retirement
  • Technical/programming background
  • Experience with data integrations (e.g., APIs, JSON, XML, etc.)
