Kleinfelder’s Bay Area offices are seeking a creative, highly talented Biological Field Coordinator to join our growing company. This opportunity is to provide a crucial role in helping keep projects coordinated appropriately and requires the ability to communicate effectively across a variety of clients and stakeholders within the framework of a project delivery program. The role can be located in-person at an office in San Francisco, Oakland or Auburn CA, or can work remotely (or have a combination of office and remote work).

The role of the Biological Field Coordinator is to support a fast paced, high-volume program with multiple requests for fieldwork support per week. The coordinator will serve as a point of contact to the client, to staff this work and manage the deliverables from the field activities. The work includes both biological and cultural components, and it is preferred the main coordinator has a background in California wildlife and plants, aquatic resources, and environmental resources.
The program has been running for six years and you will be joining a dynamic team of project managers, planners, biologists and cultural resource specialists to work together in the planning, execution, and completion of environmental projects as part of this client-focused program. This position is accountable for project field preparation support, processes, procedures, and providing these services in a way that enables an effective and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly become familiar with program requirements, biological resources in the area and Kleinfelder and client safety protocols. The Biological Field Coordinator will work directly with members of Kleinfelder’s multi-discipline teams to complete assigned work, as well as with external subcontractors, vendors and/or clients, as required. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a demonstrated willingness to learn, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The role also requires the ability to handle multiple priorities concurrently on tight deadlines, anticipate barriers, and provide alternative solutions.
Responsibilities include:
  • Prepare and/or review project documents/instructions and obtain permissions as required for field activities
  • Prepare and review field preparation packages for consistency and compliance with project and program requirements
  • Coordinate and schedule multiple field teams working with a team of staff biologists and occasionally subconsultants.
  • Support and assist with project scheduling, tracking, and documentation control according to the established process, timelines, and deliverables
  • Lead or assist with the development and implementation of project planning documentation to include documenting existing processes, updating documentation as necessary, and communicating changes
  • Lead or assist with identifying program streamlining opportunities
  • Communicate with internal Kleinfelder field biologists, cultural resources specialists and project team, and also clients and external subcontractors on a regular basis
  • Performs additional duties, as needed
Minimum requirements:
  • Associate’s Degree and 5 years of work experience, however, candidates with additional educational and work experience are also highly desired and the position title and salary can be adjusted commensurate with the applicant’s experience.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours (occasional weekend work and work outside normal hours may be required)
  • Ability to adhere to Kleinfelder and client safety programs and policies and assist others with compliance
  • Ability to communicate clearly and help resolve conflicts and respond to urgent situations that may arise
  • Ability to use or willing to learn software including Excel, Microsoft Office, and Salesforce databases to track and organize data
  • Proficient with or willing to become familiar with ArcGIS software and FieldMaps for Ipads
  • Valid Driver’s License
