Position Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to lead the strategic direction of how we go to market with our RTD & Convenience portfolio across North America. A large part of the role will focus on winning in the convenience channel and will require strong collaboration with national accounts and other stakeholders within PRUSA.
The strategic approach will be rooted in the customer’s route to shopper/consumer in-store and e-commerce/ digital approach with the goal of PRUSA brands outperforming the category and ultimately growing share. This individual will be responsible for strengthening & building relationships with customer buyer / category manager, merchandising & e-commerce teams in order to streamline customer & consumer selling solutions that drive the performance of PRUSA RTD & Convenience portfolio
The Commercial Director is the business leader responsible for developing and executing the PRUS RTD and Convenience strategy, plans and programs for the business unit that achieves two critical goals; a) drive performance through long term profitable growth b) build brand equity. A key part of this role will be to ensure the successful launch of innovation within customer planning timelines.
To achieve this, the Commercial Director will work cross functionally to create a strategic go to market plan while ensuring operational excellence in collaboration with the Brand Director. She/he will partner with relevant Brand Companies, Global RTD BU and agencies to develop local plans, programs and platforms that are consistent and align with brand messaging. In addition, the Commercial Director will work closely with the transformation and shopper teams to develop best in class programming that deliver to retailer and on-premise needs. Understanding of how to create and launch innovation within the convenience space is critical and she/he will be a strong partner with divisional, national account teams and distributors. They will demonstrate a general management mindset and will be responsible for delivering our bold ambition for our RTD & Convenience portfolio.
Reporting to the Vice President, RTD and Convenience, she/he will be responsible for leading and delivering results in collaboration with the extended RTD & Convenience team.
Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities
  • Own and deliver the annual operating plan from strategy to execution:
  • Create and deliver PRUSA RTD & Convenience strategy in collaboration with team
  • Develop relevant shopper, customer, and business insights that enable growth in partnership with Commercial Marketing Team;
  • Develop customer and channel plans/programs in collaboration with Brand Director and Commercial marketing team
  • Partner with Brand Director to deploy relevant, timely, and value-added RTD/Convenience innovation that drives growth, meets consumer & shopper needs.
  • Partner with S&OP team to ensure forecast aligns with customer authorizations and optimize accordingly for production timings
  • Continually optimize go-to-market plans and portfolio sell story.
  • Proactively look for ways to optimize our RTM to win in RTD & Convenience
  • Work in partnership with Brand Director to develop and deploy eCommerce and digital marketing support plans.
  • Holistic management and oversight of business unit performance: Category, channel/customer and state performance Brand performance vs competitors/market Manage customer delivery timelines in partnership with key stakeholders Measure, Monitor and drive availability/velocity measures to beat the market
  • Manage and develop a team that strives to work collaboratively cross functionally while still delivering strong results to beat the market.
Job Requirements:
The role requires a highly motivated self-starter with strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to collaborate effectively across functions with passion and enthusiasm. Strong entrepreneurial ability to work around obstacles and influence across key stakeholders to drive capabilities and results.
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent); MBA or advanced degree preferable
Experience / Background:
  • 10-12+ years of business experience, with experience in a senior level role in CPG or similar. Spirits or beverage alcohol industry experience preferable.
  • The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing large and culturally iconic brands with significant A&P spends.
  • Must have solid experience developing go-to-market plans grounded in insights and analytics.
  • Strong experience in managing and partnering with a broad set of stakeholders in matrix organization as well as distributors.
  • Demonstrate a GM mindset from strategy to commercial understanding as the Commercial Director will be an influential member of the newly formed RTD & Convenience team
  • Ideal candidate will have previous experience in development of innovation from product conception, production and driving in-store excellence.
  • Leader of people both direct and in-direct influence to help build a team that delivers strong results.
  • Understanding of US alcohol beverage landscape is preferred.
This position may travel up to 30% of the time.
