Responsibilities:

The Dean provides strategic vision and operational leadership that supports development and delivery of the nursing academic program. The Dean has accountability and responsibility for the administration of the nursing program.
Duties includes maintains, reviews and ensures the integrity of the academic nursing program. Provides leadership for the faculty in developing excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, and clinical practice. Coordinates the planning, development, management, review and assessment of the nursing program. Develops, reviews and justifies the salary, operational, and capital budgets with recommendations. Promotes, encourages, and facilitates professional development activities for all faculties. Responsible for hiring, firing, discipline and evaluations of all staff reporting to Dean. Monitors and leads in accreditation and other external review processes. Maintains positive relationships with community agencies, advisory committees, healthcare leadership within and external to the institution. Collaborates with faculty, in curriculum innovation. Works with appropriate administrators to mediate academic faculty/student problems and concerns. In collaboration with the Director of Student Services, monitors student enrollment trends and registration to coordinate all schedules, teaching requirements, resource utilization and payroll. Oversees the development, operation and evaluation of programs offered through the Institute for Health, Education and Research.

Oversees the Director of the Library in budget and operational activities. Oversees the IT operation of the of the school.

Qualifications:

Doctorate in nursing is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Currently registered to practice as a professional nurse in New York State. Minimum five (5) years Nursing Educator experience in a leadership position.
