Wayside Schools is a public charter school that exists to graduate the most well-rounded, globally minded, college-accepted scholars of any public school system. The Wayside network serves over 2100 scholars in Southeast Austin across five schools.

Job Goal:
The Development Manager will work with the Senior Director of Development to ensure Wayside Schools’ fiscal health through developing and implementing an innovative fundraising plan and supporting scholar recruitment efforts. Specifically, the Development Manager will work alongside the Senior Director of Development to manage and execute events, maintain the database, conduct research and data analysis, lead tours (parent and donor), engage in donor stewardship and cultivation activities, and assist in recruiting and enrolling scholars.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Identify, research, and help develop relationships with prospective institutional donors

Author proposals, both independently and in concert with other staff, to foundations and corporations for program and operational needs

Maintain constituent records in Salsa CRM database, upload necessary documentation, enter gift information, produce acknowledgement letters, oversee implementation of donor recognition policy, and manage online giving platform

*
Evaluate and coordinate revisions to the existing donor acknowledgment process to ensure appropriate, consistent, and equitable acknowledgment of gifts at all levels.

Plan and Execute annual fundraising event and manage small donor engagement events such as school visits and house parties.

  • Work with the Communications Coordinator to create donor-centered content for social media, collateral materials, newsletters, and annual reports.

Work with School Leadership Teams to engage individual donors and groups in volunteer opportunities, and develop other onsite donor engagement activities around ongoing school events.

Serve as Board Liaison by assisting with board meeting preparation, attending monthly meetings and taking meeting minutes.

Support scholar recruitment and enrollment efforts by providing excellent customer service, answering questions, walking parents through the application process and participating in enrollment-related phone campaigns.

Support scholar retention efforts by proposing, researching, and implementing initiatives to engage our families.

Required Qualifications:

*
Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of development experience.

*
Experience with gift processing and Salsa CRM or similar fundraising platforms.

*
Excellent customer service and written/oral communications and proofreading skills.

*
Ability and comfort working with staff and volunteers at all levels of the organization and from all backgrounds.

Creative problem-solving on a tight budget

Highly motivated with strong organizational and time management skills

*
Passion for quality education for all

Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and a high level of emotional intelligence

This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., however, from time to time may work an extended schedule, including weekends and evenings according to the demands of the role and tasks.
