Job Description
Job Profile Summary:
The Director of Strategic Enrollment Management is responsible for the university-wide strategy for enrollment and student lifecycle operations to meet enrollment goals of the colleges. The Director is responsible for development, implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement of strategic initiatives, the enrollment processes, practice standards, playbooks, and metrics. The Director collaborates daily with Marketing, College Leadership, and other Student Lifecycle Services to implement initiatives, monitor metrics, forecast workforce, and improve efficiency to meet student outcome goals. The Director leads teams from Enrollment Operations, Admissions, Term-Break and Withdrawal Recovery to ensure that new students, returning graduates and readmissions students are supported through their enrollment journey and prepared for success at WGU (Western Governors University).
The Director of Strategic Enrollment Management provides exemplary leadership and ownership of the results and outcomes of across colleges. This includes the guidance of a high performing team of senior leaders who are collectively responsible for the management of personnel and operations for the courses and accountable across colleges. The Director of Strategic Enrollment Management is available and accountable to members of their team and is responsible for the performance of its members. The Director demonstrates WGU’s “students-first” culture and leads their team, by example. The Director establishes clear performance expectations and delivers results, which are consistent with university goals and department responsibilities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Creates vision, strategy, and goals, acting as a champion to achieve a culture of innovation.
  • Develops and implements strategies and goals that will maximize the synergies among WGU by the development and delivery of high-quality faculty engagements and services for students.
  • Exhibits deep analytical knowledge of interpreting complex data to meet business goals and objectives.
  • Articulates and maintains a set of university-wide and college-specific policies, best practices, processes and norms for enrollment and student lifecycle staff.
  • Partners with College Leadership and WGU Leadership to lead key initiatives and goals for student outcomes and success.
  • Aligns strategies and projects with Academic Business Process, College Leadership, Education Technology, Marketing, Partnerships, State Relationship, Evaluation and Records and Financial Aid.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and University regulations and policies.
  • Collaborates with the leadership team to develop objectives, performance metrics and reporting across all sites, to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting for employees.
  • Provides leadership for effective change management strategies to all areas of the organization.
  • Develops creative solutions to solve department issues and contributes to innovative strategies.
  • Provides input in various projects as it pertains to data quality, tracking and metric analysis to provide points of clarification to determine success level of projects.
  • Identifies and eliminates bottlenecks, opportunities, and inefficiencies with regards to data and analysis to improve efficiency and staff/student experience.
  • Develops and distributes appropriate reports and data to improve performance.
  • Effectively leads a high-performing team of managers and senior managers.
  • Displays an ability to successfully influence without authority to drive change and ensure compliance against university-level policies.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent.
  • 10 years specific experience which generally includes a minimum of 5-7 years leading a team
Department Specific Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. Education must be from an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • Experience and demonstrated strategic thinking skills in the context of related recruitment strategies with marketing, partnerships, enrollment goals with impacts on multi-year financial planning.
  • Experience leading enrollment initiatives and teams and strategic initiatives in an educational setting.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, ever-changing environment, with a focus on metrics and priorities.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior-level leadership experience managing a variety of services within a complex environment.
  • In-depth experience in organizational leadership includes the ability to coach staff, manage priorities, develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage department budgets.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management systems and Reporting (Salesforce is preferred).
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • The Director must be self-directed and hold a service centric disposition with a high regard for integrity, trust, and a mission-driven philosophy.
  • The Director must have breadth and depth of expertise, gained through wide-ranging experience, and have expert-level knowledge, experience and skills related to functional competencies.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
