Position Summary:

The Finance Associate works with the Finance Team to provide high quality services related to Purchase Cards, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and related administrative duties. The primary focus of this role is to support internal operations, including the timely and accurate recording of transactions throughout the financial system. This role is also responsible for preparing month end journal entries. The hired staff will receive the opportunity to learn the different parts of the finance organization.

This is a non-exempt position, working a standard 40-hour work week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate all purchase card activities including issuing new cards, terminations and documentation management for up to 200 cardholders.

Support with fraud mitigation by serving as a liaison between the bank and employees

Assist with onboarding and training including the development of materials and tools.

Ensure timely and professional communications with internal staff and partners.

Assist Accounting Specialist in processing incoming checks, wires, ACH and securities including verifying coding, depositing and data entry.

Assist Accounting Specialist in weekly payment of vendor bills and expense reports.

Prepare AP & AR related month end journal entries.

Respond to AP/AR inquiries from internal staff and external clients in a timely manner

Assist in the preparation of annual audit.

Assist with year-end 1099s.

Participate in the implementation and improvement of workflows throughout the department

Provide support with special projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Controller.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting or equivalent work experience

3 to 4 years of experience in processing Accounts Receivable/Account Payable

*
Ability to identify, analyze and solve accounting related issues.

*
Demonstrates ability to engage in a direct and truthful manner; ability to present accurate and appropriate information.

*
Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal staff and external clients.

*
Demonstrated ability to prioritize amongst multiple commitments, and to drive multiple high profile and complex projects simultaneously in a challenging and fluid environment

*
Strong motivation and ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and assignments within a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

*
Proficiency with MS Office and NetSuite preferred.

*
Non-profit accounting experience preferred

*
Familiarity with nonprofit compliance regulations is a plus.

Strong ability to work collaboratively toward solutions that generally benefit all involved parties

Possess a strong work ethic and “can do” attitude
