A minimum of 10+ years’ experience leading a product or service engineering team.
A minimum of 7+ years’ experience managing and developing direct reports (performance review communication, accountability, and motivation/engagement).

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a service owner to lead the AWS Ground Station business. AWS Ground Station enables customers to connect to their on-orbit spacecraft in an on-demand model that leverages all the benefits of the AWS network and infrastructure. The service leader is a single-threaded owner for the AWS Ground Station business responsible for P&L, product management/definition, development, deployment, scaling, and ongoing operations. You will work closely with senior AWS leaders, as well as the leaders of other AWS services.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will be the single-threaded leader for the Ground Station business. You will be given the opportunity to autonomously deliver the technical direction of the service and the feature roadmap. As an organizational and technical leader on the team, you will be responsible for:
Hiring the right set of leaders for your organization, including engineers and managers.
Establishing the vision and direction for your organization for the consumption of senior executives at the company as well as for your own teams.
Establishing the metrics and goals that would help you realize the vision for your teams as well as for the larger organization.
Making difficult trade off decisions to help guide your team through the execution towards these goals. These would include technical, product, testing, organizational and strategic decisions.
Being a true owner, and relentlessly innovating on behalf of your customers so that you can subsequently take bolder goals than the ones you start with.
TS/SCI Clearance preferred, but not mandatory.
High ownership, urgency, and drive.
Excellent planning, organization and prioritization skills.
Maturity, judgment, and proven ability to lead and influence others.
Independently driven, resourceful, and able to deliver results with minimal direction.
