Manage the special education program to ensure that goals for students’ education are met according to their IEPs and IEPs are in compliance.

Monitor, review and keep IEPs updated

Keep IEP and student data spreadsheet updated and
-
Share updated spreadsheet with Admin, support staff and therapist
-
Inform teachers and staff of IEP meetings in advance with dates and times
-
Act as liaison between DOE and school in scheduling meetings
-
Support teachers with Instruction around special education in the classrooms
-
Review IEP and A-1P after meetings are held
-
Communicate regularly with staff and families about meetings
-
Track and monitor student data
-
Monitor student academic progress and ensure appropriate interventions are in place to support academic achievement
-
Prepare for IEP meetings
-
Conduct informal observations and provide effective feedback
-
Share individual student goals, accommodations, and modifications with teachers; meeting with teachers and service providers to monitor student progress toward IEP goals on a regular basis

Provide teachers and therapists with completed IEP packets after meetings
-
Schedule IEP annual and graduate meetings with CPSE/ CSE
-
Submit annual review packets to CPSE Coordinator

Meet with the Director weekly
-
Attend weekly meetings with Admin and support staff
-
Provide professional development training to staff around special education topics/ areas
-
Master’s degree in Education (Special Education) or in a Master’s program
-
New York State Certified Teacher, and or eligible for School Building Leader certification
-
Experience in Early Childhood Education and Special Education, at least 2 years
-
Has experience as Director of Special Education or Special Education Coordinator
