About the Role:

Responsible for securing formulary access for our brands while building strategic relationships with National Managed Care Accounts and their affiliates, Regional Accounts and State Medicaid in the Western United States. The main national account is CVS. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your ability to build and sustain long term relationships while using key business strategies to create integrated business plans. Provide your expert insight into the local healthcare systems and their impact on Key Accounts; identify new business opportunities with current or potential accounts. This position covers the West: CA, WA, OR, NV, ID. The preferred candidate will live in Oregon, Washington or California and ideally maintain current relationships in California.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Builds and sustains long-term customer partnerships with assigned Key Accounts, based on deep understanding of the customer organization, structure, business strategy and priorities
  • Develops and maintains an integrated business plan which illustrates national and regional market opportunities, monitors contract progress and performance, and account penetration at every level
  • Develops, negotiates, and implements innovative contracts to support brand strategies. Coordinate pull-through activities with field sales to support access opportunities and challenges ultimately resulting in significant ROI
  • Develops non-contract business opportunities and solutions. Implements account management strategies that promote product sales and market share in the absence of contracting
  • Provides in-depth analysis related to account, market trends, competitive activity, contract performance, and personnel
  • Communicates regularly to senior management the opportunities, challenges, and performance of accounts
  • Provides expert insight into the local healthcare systems and their impact on Key Accounts; identifies new business opportunities with current or potential accounts
  • Presents Payer outlook at internal business reviews and national/regional sales meetings. Provide leadership in development of brand strategies
  • Identify, monitor, and analyze healthcare and public policy trends of significance to Neurocrine and develop recommendations based on these trends
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • BS/BA degree in a scientific or related field and 12+ years of national/regional account management experience. Experience working with large scale payors (may include managed care, federal or trade). Contracting experience in with government and/or large accounts. Specialty product experience (CNS Preferred) OR
  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred and 10+ years of similar experience noted above
  • Proven success in new product and line extension launches
  • Demonstrated ability to manage internal and external relationships
  • Ability to work in an autonomous work environment
  • Demonstrates subject matter expertise in related therapeutic areas
  • Expert level understanding of pricing, government payers and specialty pharmaceutical markets
  • Proven success in account management role within Trade, Federal or Managed Care
  • Demonstrated expertise in the following for assigned accounts:
    • Trade Specialty:
      • Working with specialty pharmacies, wholesalers, distributors and/or specialty distributors (HUB experience preferred)
    • Federal:
      • Working with major teaching institutions, VA Medical Centers and MTFs, VISN’s, VA PBM, DoD, DHA, and Tricare including management of the local P&T review processes is highly preferred
      • Deep understanding of the rules of promoting within the VA/DOD system
    • Managed Care:
      • Working with Managed Care National Accounts and their affiliates, Regional Accounts and State Medicaid
  • Anticipates business and industry issues; recommends relevant process / technical / service improvements
  • Demonstrates broad expertise or unique knowledge
  • Considered an expert within the company and may have external presence in area of expertise
  • Applies in-depth expertise in discipline and broad knowledge of other closely related areas to improve efficiency of team
  • Ability to work as part of and lead multiple teams
  • Good leadership, mentoring skills and abilities typically leads lower levels and/or indirect teams
  • Excellent computer skills
