BEHAVIORAL AIDE

****PLEASE INCLUDE A BRIEF COVER LETTER DETAILING YOUR BEHAVIORAL AIDE EXPERIENCE****

We are seeking individuals who have experience working with children and young adults who may have challenging behaviors. In essence, we are seeking individuals who have the ability to quickly build rapport and connect, and who are genuinely able to understand the importance of patience, empathy, and compassionate care.

This position is for shifts starting Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday. Shifts may be 8 or 12 hours, often your preference. Generally, if 8 hour shift:

8 am – 4 pm

4 pm – 12 am (midnight)

12 am (midnight) – 8 am

You may be assigned to do several different tasks within the scope of this position for an individual (1 year old to 18 years old):

1. Provide one-on-one supervision. This supervision may be located:

a. at a center (mental health or other residential placement);

b. at a hotel (in a room for your shift of 8 or 12 hours, including overnight)

c. at an office (during business hours)

During your shift, there will be guidelines for what can be done with the individual (skills building, life-skills conversations, take to movies, swimming, arcade, to eat, etc.). However, the individual you are supervising will always be with you / within your sight.

2. Provide transportation for a child or young adult to a specific destination (normally local, but could be a longer distance within Georgia).

Many of the children / young adults have been through adverse childhood experiences (aka, “trauma”) and understandably are often very upset, confused, and angry at how “the system” has treated them (the people and organizations responsible for providing compassionate care).

Those we will hire will understand the nuances of developing rapport and being “friendly” vs. being their friend and sharing personal business.

Yet, our agency will only hire people who understand the importance of such a position; whereas, this is not simply a position where your attitude is to come “clock in and get paid.”

Pause for a minute and simply imagine and visualize the most important person or people in your life and how much you love them… Now imagine that you needed someone, someone you could trust, to transport them to an appointment, provide supervision for half of the day, or provide supervision even overnight…

What qualities and characteristics would be important for this person to have while caring for the person/people you love?

Exactly. Those are the same type of attributes and characteristics we are seeking in people we will be hiring for this position. No exceptions.

Furthermore, given the rapid expansion we are experiencing at this time, your ability to demonstrate maturity, wisdom, and exceptional communication skills (emotional intelligence) may also lead to an expanded supervisory-type role, depending on your experience and ability to demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities (especially when nobody is watching).

****MORE SPECIFICALLY****

The ideal candidate will be able to implement evidence based practices, supervise, and provide age appropriate interventions to clients at home and in the community environment.

As an experienced and mature Behavioral Aide, you will be expected to use skills to observe and implement interventions to support clients and their families. You will also provide community resources, conduct home visits, implement behavior modification services, as well as teach life skills training such as budgeting, housing maintenance, and any other supportive services that are needed based on each individual.

Responsibilities

· Properly document services rendered to clients

· Promote reunification; assist in preventing out of home placement of children

· Completion of Standardized Training Requirement (i.e. HIPPA and Security Awareness etc.) all training will be provided by the agency

· Work non-traditional hours work schedule, as needed

· Comply with all deadlines as required by agency

If you have demonstrated experience providing the various services described above AND you understand this is a professional and responsible position WITH big growth opportunities for the “right” people… …then, please, we want to meet you and have you join our growing and amazing team of professional Behavior Aides.

…faithful over a little, ruler over a much…

…to whom much is given, much is required…
