Position Summary

The Practice Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day patient service activities and operational workflow for multiple practice sites including the Rheumatology Faculty Practice, the Department of Medicine Subspecialty Faculty Practice and the Department of Medicine Nursing Stations in Herbert Irving Pavilion and Harkness Pavilion.


  • Responsible for the consistent application of patient flow efficiencies and best practice processes across multiple practice sites.
  • Implement patient service initiatives and practice workflow optimization procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain supply inventory for all practice sites.
  • Ensure practices run in an organized and efficient manner: track visit volume trends; maintain faculty and staff schedules; and monitor staff time and performance.
  • Provide oversight, training and support for front-end revenue cycle operations including scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and referrals/authorizations.
  • Provide training and assistance with front-end Work Queues, missing charges, charge edits, and inquiries from the revenue cycle team.
  • Ensure prompt response to requests for information from the FPO, CRO, PBS, Credentialing and the Office of Compliance.
  • Serve as Epic EMR expert resource for faculty and staff.
  • Perform additional related duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years related experience
  • Experience with faculty practice operations and/or academic medical center operations
  • Knowledge of billing, CPT and ICD-10
  • Practical knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Excellent customer service skills
