Job summary Our goal is to make Alexa an intelligent assistant that delights customers by understanding them as individuals, recognizes those individuals in the moment, understands the context around that moment, and leverages that context and individual preferences to deliver personalized experiences. You will drive our overall strategy to centrally store and standardize what we’ve learned about Alexa users to ensure consistency across personalized Alexa experiences. You will define customer features, improve accuracy, help define the architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, experienced, technical, and analytically oriented Principal Product Manager to join our team and help improve how Alexa continually learns about customers to provide a more personalized experience while ensuring a private and secure experience. The perfect candidate will thrive with the challenge of simplifying technical challenges while balancing complex and competing priorities. As a Principal Product Manager-Tech, you will define, execute, and deliver a product roadmap that adds value to Alexa’s customers and internal partners. This role is inherently cross-functional — you will work closely with engineering, design, user experience, BI, operations, marketing, and executive teams to bring new solutions to customers. A successful candidate will be adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into high quality and simple customer experiences. Key job responsibilities Lead the development of the product strategy to centrally store and standardize Alexa user’s preferences for use across Alexa personalized experiences. Own and define the product roadmap, managing tradeoffs and dependencies with key stakeholders Develop detailed, crisp business requirements and user stories that can be used to create product specifications and architecture for each product and application Manage prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, performance and operational support load Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners Work closely with engineering teams and program management to deliver products Drive product launches including working with public relations team, executives, and other product management team members Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals Dive deep into customer feedback to represent the voice of the customer to the engineering team and other stakeholders Define and monitor business metrics to drive the team’s progress towards goals A day in the life In Alexa Identity you will work back from customers and internal partners to define a central standard storage solution for individual Alexa customer’s preferences. You will partner with organization leaders and partner teams to gather requirements and drive alignment across the organization. You will own and define the product roadmap, managing tradeoffs and dependencies with key stakeholders, define and review success metrics and progress against goals. MBA or Master’s degree in related field Proven track record taking ownership and working in cross-functional teams to successfully deliver results Broad technical breadth and depth including familiarity with consumer technology, web services and back-end application infrastructure Experience launching APIs for third party developer customers Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives, and communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage tradeoffs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with internal and external partners High attention to detail History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
