SCOPE OF ROLE

Looking for professional individuals with excellent customer service skills to join our team of Release of Information Specialists. This position involves working with confidential protected health information. Successful candidates are self-motivated and possess a willingness to provide the finest expressed and anticipatory personal service to all of our clients. We are looking for individuals who genuinely care and commit to the highest confidentiality standards. This position must perform duties and conduct interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of our organization, as well as that of our client.

Mount Vernon NY

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prioritize release of information requests, retrieves medical records from active and inactive and interdepartmental locations, electronically tracks and delivers records in accordance with established procedures
  • Performs self-quality checks on all work to assure accuracy of the release, confidentiality and proper invoicing
  • Handles all requests and inquiries for patient health information whether received via mail, fax, phone or in-person
  • Verifies the patient identity and confirms that the authorization is valid
  • Ensures the requesting party has a legal right to request a patient’s medical information
  • Provide excellent customer service by being attentive and respectful; insures understanding of customer request and follows-through as promised; and being proactive in identifying client concerns, or problems
  • Access computerized patient record and/or other computer systems for patient information needed for fulfilling requests for medical information
  • Performs at established quantitative and qualitative work standards to meet departmental goals and objectives
  • Maintains current knowledge related to applicable statutes, regulations, guidelines and standards necessary to perform job duties in accordance with HIPAA and other state and federal privacy laws

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to perform team-oriented job tasks with a conscientious awareness of detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Good computer and typing skills

EDUCATION

High school diploma or GED required

Job Type: Full-Time M-F 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 – $18.00 per hour
