Seamstress Job Duties

A seamstress typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:

• Cutting fabric to specified sizes based on patterns provided by designers or customers
• Sewing buttons back onto shirts or sewing new buttons onto clothing items
• Sewing buttons onto garments, including suits, dresses, coats, and shirts
• Measuring clients to determine garment size and fitting needs
• Sewing new seams or reinforcing existing seams on garments to ensure they hold up over time
• Sewing buttons onto garments or sewing buttonholes in preparation for button installation
• Sewing fabric together end to end with a sewing machine or by hand to create garments
• Dyeing fabrics using special processes, such as candle dyeing or dip dyeing, to create new colors
• Altering garments to fit their owners better by sewing on new pieces or removing existing ones

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour
