Seamstress Job Duties
A seamstress typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Cutting fabric to specified sizes based on patterns provided by designers or customers
- Sewing buttons back onto shirts or sewing new buttons onto clothing items
- Sewing buttons onto garments, including suits, dresses, coats, and shirts
- Measuring clients to determine garment size and fitting needs
- Sewing new seams or reinforcing existing seams on garments to ensure they hold up over time
- Sewing buttons onto garments or sewing buttonholes in preparation for button installation
- Sewing fabric together end to end with a sewing machine or by hand to create garments
- Dyeing fabrics using special processes, such as candle dyeing or dip dyeing, to create new colors
- Altering garments to fit their owners better by sewing on new pieces or removing existing ones
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour
