Job Summary:

Supervisor of Clinical Services will provide supervision to the behavioral health clinicians, and social work interns. Supervision of clinicians and interns consists of weekly supervision sessions, oversight of documentation for providers, and case coverage (as needed). This position requires the coordination of day-to-day functions for Abbott House’s Article 31 Mental Health Clinic, 29i services and Children and Family Support Services (CFTSS). Day to day functions include ensuring successful clinical interventions are provided and mental health needs of the clientele are met. Supervision of personnel responsibility requires proper utilization of one or more of the following treatment modalities Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Play Therapy, Individual Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Couples Therapy, Family Therapy, and Group Therapy. Supervision will also require timely submission of the clinical documentation by providers as it relates to our Electronic Medical Record (AccuMedic). Documentation and billing reports will be completed and submitted in a timely manner, and ensure compliance of with federal, state, and local regulations, in addition to agency policies and procedures. This position is full time at 35 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Article 31 Clinic/29i services/CFTSS

  • Oversee the day-to-day clinical operations; including intake processes, service planning, clinical interventions, and discharge planning.
  • Supervision of multidisciplinary staff consisting of three or more clinicians. Meet with staff, as needed, regarding case progress, techniques used to promote professional development and assuring quality of care.
  • Supervision of clinicians and interns will consist of case conferences and record reviews.
  • Provide relevant trainings to staff (e.g., co-occurring disorders, high risk cases).
  • Determine and coordinate assignment of cases to the multidisciplinary staff, including case coverage, psychological testing, psychiatric evaluations, medication review and assessments.
  • Conduct staff meetings, trainings, and provide work performance evaluations.
  • Participate in community outreach with local providers including Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH), Office of Mental Health (OMH) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).
  • Model and coach staff in recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally competent care.
  • Ensure provision of evidence-based practices for youth and adults with behavioral health needs who have been involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Train new staff on the use of the AccuMedic as it relates to standardized clinical workflows and billing.
  • Work with administrative, medical leadership, quality assurance, information services, facilities, and fiscal staff to meet clinical goals of the patients and services.
  • Compile and create reports, letters and supporting documents to meet the standards of OMH, OCFS and Managed Care companies.
  • Maintain a caseload of 8-10.
  • Other duties assigned by Medical Director and Directors of Health Services.

Social Work Intern Program

  • Oversee the intake process for social work interns. Review and approve applications and inquiries from students and educational programs.
  • Contracting with each accepted student about their individual needs, commitments, and responsibilities.
  • Oversee student’s onboarding process through HR. Ensure they have access to computers, workspace, supplies, etc. Also, ensure students are familiarized with Abbott House policies and procedures.
  • Provide one hour of weekly Clinical and administrative supervision for each student, in addition to reviewing documentation, assignments, and providing onsite consultation.
  • Complete required formal educational assessments of each student, in the format specified by their school, while maintaining communication to the school as needed.
  • Provide clinical back up coverage, oversight, and manage transitions for cases assigned to students during breaks, or absences.

Skill Building

  • Establishing treatment goals for children, utilizing historical and current available information in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Assisting children and youth to develop skills as defined in treatment goals.
  • Providing medication support and psychotherapy.
  • Provide and ensure individual counseling and treatment, substance abuse counseling and treatment, trauma-informed counseling and treatment, family and group counseling, transitional counseling.
  • Promoting integration with community resources and skill-building.
  • Providing psychoeducation and wellness education.
  • Communicating with family, case planning staff and medical practitioners.
  • Enhancing compliance with behavioral expectations of treatment plan.
  • Utilizing interventions drawn from evidence-based psychotherapeutic methodology.
  • Structure interventions to decrease problematic behaviors and increase developmentally appropriate pro-social behavior.

  • NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR)
  • NYS Sex Offender Registry (SOR)
  • NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) fingerprinting
  • NYS Justice Center Staff Exclusion List (SEL)
  • NYS OMIG Medicaid Exclusion List
  • Complete mandated reporter training
  • Compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations to include NYSED guidance.
  • Fully Covid vaccinated.
