The Edelman Trust Institute is the firm’s thought leadership engine, producing research-driven insights and reports that inform global conversations, guide our client work and make our people smarter. These include the world-renowned Edelman Trust Barometer, as well as numerous research reports across a variety of communications practices and industry sectors. The Edelman thought leadership team is highly visible inside Edelman, as well as known and respected for our work across the industry.
The SVP, Edelman Thought Leadership will be responsible for leading global thought leadership projects from start to finish, working with internal stakeholders as well as external subject matter experts to define research and business objectives, collaborating with the research team to design survey methodologies, and leading the development of the reports themselves. The SVP, Edelman Thought Leadership will also lead the development of supplementary reports that provide a deeper analysis across sub-sectors or audiences, using insights from across multiple studies.

The SVP Thought Leadership will manage the team’s group of content strategists, who are responsible for the narrative development, production, design and asset management across all of the Edelman Trust Institute’s reports, and be responsible for the team’s operations and planning.

The successful candidate will bring the ability to collaborate across stakeholders and functional areas, and produce work that will allow us to convene societal leaders from business, government, NGOs, academia, media and public relations in informed, candid conversation about the future of business and society. The SVP Thought Leadership will report to the Global Executive Director, Thought Leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must have at least 10 years of relevant experience in a combination of related fields, such as public relations, research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing
  • Experience in leading multi-market thought leadership initiatives from design to implementation, including the application of research approaches to real-world business needs and problems
  • The ability to analyze data, discover key insights and create a research-driven narrative
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with company executives, business leaders and influential stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Experience in developing business plans and ability to convene and lead project teams across levels and functional areas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to inform marketing and business strategy applications of the thought leadership, and bring a global perspective to the work
  • Experienced manager, with a collaborative ability to lead multi-functional teams
  • Background in leading work focused on the role of institutions in society, the consumer-brand relationship, and/or the employer-employee relationship would be considered a plus
